- Troop/Groups
Daisy, Brownie, Junior, Girls 11-17. Troops/Groups meet on a
year-round basis and earn recognitions, participate in council
programs and go on many trips. Girls are organized into
troops/groups through the dedicated guidance of a Troop
Leader/Advisor and with the
support and assistance of parents and family members. Girls are
able to form friendships that will last a lifetime.
- Special Interest Troop
Girls between the ages of 5-17 may form Girl Scout troops based
upon their area of interest. This could include gymnastics,
softball, cheerleading or science. It is totally up to the
girls! The time length of a Special Interest Troop will depend
upon its focus and the their schedules, but we recommend a
minimum of six sessions.
- Juliettes
Individually registered Girl Scouts. Juliettes (named after our
Founder, Juliette Gordon Low) may earn recognitions, participate
in program events and much, much, more. These special Girl
Scouts will receive quarterly newsletters to keep them informed
of all of the “Council Happenings” and their advisors play an
instrumental role in the delivery of the Girl Scout program.
Juliettes participate on a year-round basis, but they are
empowered to pick the activities that fit their families’
schedules best.
- Girl Scouting in the School Day
Girl Scouting in the School Day is a national project that
enables female students from
kindergarten through high school to participate in Girl Scout
activities and events in a school or school-related setting.
Girl Scouting in the School Day can be conducted throughout the
school year or as a 6 week program in the Fall and Spring or
even during summer school.
- Pre-K Head Start to Daisy
Head Start is a council program which
provides comprehensive developmental
services for children who have turned five and will enter
kindergarten. Specific services for children focus on education,
socio-emotional development, physical and mental health, and
nutrition.
Pre-K Headstart to Daisy is a 6 week program conducted in the
Spring.
- Service Unit
The troops/groups within a specific geographical area form a
Service Unit that meets monthly to receive updates, network,
share best practices, plan events and receive support from the
service unit team.
- Registration Area
Because Service Units cross county boundaries, Registration Area
numbers also are needed. These numbers correspond to the
counties served in the Apalachee Bend council. Registration area
numbers are required on the membership application, volunteer
applications, service unit nomination form, and all product
activity forms.
