Girl Scout CookiesCouncil Funding

It is everyone’s responsibility to act as community ambassadors for the Girl Scouts cause. Every adult in Girl Scouting has many opportunities to tell others why Girl Scouting is important to girls and why it is important to give their financial support.

Council Financing:

  • Product Activity Programs—nuts & candy sales and Girl Scout cookies
  • Program/Training Fees (defray some expenses)
  • Girl Scout National Equipment Service - Sale of uniform components, gift items, etc.
  • United Ways of the Big Bend and Northwest Florida, CHSP
  • Annual Giving—Business and individual contributions
  • Girl Scout family contributions
  • In-kind giving
  • Grants and gifts
  • Endowments/Planned giving

Major expenses all relate to the delivery of the Girl Scout Program within the council’s 15-county jurisdiction. Examples include:

  • Development of local resources to enhance program delivery - printed material for various girl programs, recruitment, resource materials, membership extension, flags, bridges, arches and other resources available for check-out by troops; staff support; monthly service team mailings; Volunteer Newsletter, as well as periodic mailings to girls (including camp brochure and Girl Scouts 11-17 mailings).
  • Support to Girl Scout program in the out-of-doors—development and maintenance of
    council-owned properties; day, troop and
resident camping; summer activities; council-wide events and staff assistance.
  • Recruitment, selection, placement and development of volunteer and employed staff—audio-visual equipment, library and adult resource materials; site use fees; council-sponsored adult trainings; financial assistance to volunteers selected to attend local, regional and
national trainings; awards and recognitions; staff training plus staff support.
  • Communication of the Girl Scout story to the membership and community—annual report, Parent/Guardian Guide, council newsletter (Around the Bend), material for community relations representatives, display board, special events, and printing.
  • Administration of all resources-rent, utilities, maintenance of council headquarters and
Service Centers, office supplies, insurance, postage, annual audit, necessary legal reports; Camp for All Seasons expenses; and staff.
