It is everyone’s responsibility to act as
community ambassadors for the Girl Scouts cause. Every adult in Girl
Scouting has many opportunities to tell others why Girl Scouting is
important to girls and why it is important to give their financial
support.
Council Financing:
- Product Activity Programs—nuts & candy sales and Girl Scout
cookies
- Program/Training Fees (defray some expenses)
- Girl Scout National Equipment Service - Sale of uniform
components, gift items, etc.
- United Ways of the Big Bend and Northwest Florida, CHSP
- Annual Giving—Business and individual contributions
- Girl Scout family contributions
- In-kind giving
- Grants and gifts
- Endowments/Planned giving
Major expenses all relate to the delivery of the Girl Scout
Program within the council’s 15-county jurisdiction. Examples
include:
- Development of local resources to enhance program delivery -
printed material for various girl programs, recruitment,
resource materials, membership extension, flags, bridges, arches
and other resources available for check-out by troops; staff
support; monthly service team mailings; Volunteer Newsletter, as
well as periodic mailings to girls (including camp brochure and
Girl Scouts 11-17 mailings).
- Support to Girl Scout program in the
out-of-doors—development and maintenance of
council-owned properties; day, troop and
resident camping; summer activities; council-wide events and
staff assistance.
- Recruitment, selection, placement and development of
volunteer and employed staff—audio-visual equipment, library and
adult resource materials; site use fees; council-sponsored adult
trainings; financial assistance to volunteers selected to attend
local, regional and
national trainings; awards and recognitions; staff training plus
staff support.
- Communication of the Girl Scout story to the membership and
community—annual report, Parent/Guardian Guide, council
newsletter (Around the Bend), material for community relations
representatives, display board, special events, and printing.
- Administration of all resources-rent, utilities, maintenance
of council headquarters and
Service Centers, office supplies, insurance, postage, annual
audit, necessary legal reports; Camp for All Seasons expenses;
and staff.
