- Christmas Connection
This is a Call for Volunteers! I am hoping you will
spread the word, and even take part as a volunteer yourself.
The Christmas Connection program is in need of 100+
volunteers to serve in the warehouse (near TCC) to accept
and sort donations that will begin coming in as early as
Monday, November 26th and through December 31st, anytime
from 8am to 6pm or so in the evening. Volunteers are needed
in 2-8 hour shifts. If you are interested in serving in a
leadership capacity, volunteers are needed to manage other
volunteers, oversee operations, etc. Here is a little bit
about the program itself:
The Christmas Connection tries to fulfill the wishes and
some of the basic needs of hundreds of needy families in
Northwest Florida each holiday season. We want to deliver
toys for their children, food for their table and a little
joy to their homes.
Christmas Connection is an initiative of Catholic Charities,
but it serves families of all religions, races, and ethnic
backgrounds.
From 25 families in Tallahassee to 800 families in eight Big
Bend counties: That is the amazing history and growth of the
Christmas Connection. In 1979, Christmas Connection began as
an effort to help 25 needy families have a happier holiday.
The response was overwhelming. Over the years, the Christmas
Connection has exploded to a massive volunteer effort that
now helps 600 to 800 families in an eight-county region each
year.
Please forward this message to those who you think would be
interested in helping. This is an ideal service opportunity
for students not planning to leave Tallahassee at the end of
the semester, as well as for local government/university
employees and their families to participate.
There is additional information on the attached pdf
document. Please contact Mr. A.J. Smith to sign up or for
more information. His contact info is: 850-251-9021 or
chief1@sprint.blackberry.net.
Thank you in advance for your involvement in this worthwhile
effort to make a difference in our community.
