Brave New Girl - 2008 Summer Camp
Welcome from the Director

Dear Families,

The Girl Scout Council of the Apalachee Bend, Inc. is proud to present another fantastic summer of camp opportunities to suit every girl’s interests. Swimming! Horseback Riding! Canoeing! Hiking! Caving! Arts and Crafts! Games! Singing! Girls will make new friends and learn new skills, all while enjoying the outdoors and becoming a part of the Girl Scout Camping tradition. Experience the great outdoors in a safe, secure environment where trained counselors supervise your daughter in a caring and friendly environment that helps girls discover more about themselves and the world around them. Girls learn coping and communication skills as well as outdoor living skills in a positive setting where they are valued and diversity is celebrated.

Camp for All Seasons (CFAS) is a wonderful facility, located on the west side of Tallahassee, off of State Road 20 on Julow Lane. CFAS is on sixty-five (65) acres of state park land with waterfront on Lake Talquin.

This facility has a beautiful large lodge where the girls will eat well prepared meals, do evening programs, and have activities if the weather turns wet. The arts and crafts room, a well-kept pool with hot showers, and a clinic staffed by a health administrator are located around the lodge. CFAS has a ball field, a volleyball court, an archery range, a barn to house ten horses, a shaded riding ring, horse trails, hiking trails, and more. At the lake, we canoe and fish. The girls live in three units of cabin type buildings and tents. Each cabin can house from four to eight campers. The tents house two campers each. There is electricity, running water, and modern bathroom facilities in each unit. Two counselors and at least two Counselors-in-Training are housed close to the girls in a unit house, which also has a recreation room with a kitchenette, fireplace, and bathrooms with showers. Every unit has a campfire circle for cookouts and lots of singing.
Sign up your daughter for camp where she can discover the power of being a girl! Whether she is a returning or a first time camper, we look forward to creating a second home for her at our camp.

See you in the great outdoors!!
